The radius of the circular waveguide and the relative permittivity of filled dielectric are 30 mm and 2.56, respectively. We use GEMS to simulate this waveguide with either TE or TM mode excitation. The outputs from GEMS package are mode voltage and current, and the user can use the formula built in the GEMS result display module to calculate the mode impedance, attenuation factor and propagation constant. The mode extraction can be carried out using analytical or numerical approaches.
